Nokuthula Ngwenyama’s Musical Universe

One of the most intriguing aspects of “Flow” is Ngwenyama’s innovative approach to composition. She challenges traditional techniques by instructing the musicians of the Takács Quartet to start playing on the short strings of their instruments, creating a unique and ethereal sound that resonates with listeners. Throughout the piece, Ngwenyama draws on diverse musical forms, including traditional Balinese gamelan music, pushing the boundaries of classical music and inviting audiences to explore new sonic landscapes.
