The Balourdet String Quartet opens with two cornerstones of the quartet repertoire featuring Bartók’s bold imagination and the restless brilliance of Ravel. Flutist Demarre McGill joins the program performing Valerie Coleman’s Danza de la Mariposa, a colorful tour of South America. The concert closes with Amy Beach’s elegant Theme and Variations, combining the flute and string quartet to weave a tapestry of sound.
