2018-2019 SEASON SCHEDULE

Linton Chamber Music’s extraordinary concerts are performed in two warm and intimate settings. The Sunday afternoon Linton Chamber Music Series takes place at the historic First Unitarian Church just north of downtown Cincinnati, and the Monday evening Encore! Linton Series is held in the suburan location of Loveland at Congregation Beth Adam.

Masterworks for Strings

The 40th Anniversary season opens with quintessential masterpieces for chamber strings. Artistic Directors Sharon Robinson and Jaime Laredo join Cathy Meng Robinson, Hsin-Yun Huang, Misha Amory, and Keith Robinson to perform Schoenberg’s expansively romantic, Transfigured Night and Schubert’s sublime String Quintet.


CSO Friends & Anna Polonsky

Praised as an “artist of warmth and insight,” pianist Anna Polonsky performs with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra violinist Stefani Collins Matsuo, violist Christian Colberg, cellist Ilya Finkelshteyn, oboist Dwight Parry, and bassoonist William Winstead. Works by Poulenc, Mozart, and Dvořák combine to create this vibrant program.


Bronfman & The New York Philharmonic String Quartet

Musical powerhouses join forces as celebrated pianist Yefim Bronfman performs with the New York Philharmonic String Quartet on the Linton stage. This Sunday-only performance features Schumann’s heroic Piano Quintet and remarkable string quartets by Haydn and Shostakovich.


The Return of André Watts

Opus One returns to its Linton roots to celebrate and honor Founder, Dick Waller. Artists Ida Kavafian, Steven Tenenbom, Peter Wiley, and Anne-Marie McDermott have enthralled audiences throughout Linton’s history. Ani Kavafian joins the group to perform Amy Beach’s milestone Piano Quintet.


The Artistry of Trifonov & The Ariel Quartet

Experience the artistry and brilliance of pianist-composer, Daniil Trifonov. A legend in the making, he has already performed on the world’s greatest stages. The Ehnes Quartet

Hailed as “an important new force in the chamber music arena” with a “dream-team line-up” (Strings Magazine), the Ehnes Quartet is comprised of four internationally renowned string musicians: violinists James Ehnes & Amy Schwartz Moretti, violist Richard O’Neill, and cellist Edward Arron. Don’t miss their performance of  quartets by Beethoven and Bartók and Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet with Chicago Symphony Orchestra Principal, Stephen Williamson.  


A Treasured Trio with Truls Mørk

Traveling Through Time

Vibrant sounds of the flute, harp, cello, and piano are on display in a unique program of trios. Travel through time as pianist Soyeon Kate Lee returns to the Linton stage to join CSO principal musicians Randolph Bowman, Gillian Benet Sella, and Ilya Finkelshteyn performing works by Rameau, Haydn, Weber, Foote, and Ravel.

Piano Quartets of Note

Program:

Linton Artistic Directors, Jaime Laredo & Sharon Robinson return to perform noteworthy piano quartets of Mozart and Fauré. They join award-winning violinist, Soovin Kim and pianist Gloria Chien, picked by the Boston Globe as one of the Superior Pianists of the Year. Kim and Chien will also perform Ravel’s sonata inspired by American Jazz and Blues.
